Every Journey Has a Beginning
Average Joe Outdoors wasn't created because I wanted to start an apparel company. It was created because I finally stopped saying "Maybe Next Year."
Growing up in South Georgia, I developed a love for the outdoors through hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing, hiking, surfing, skateboarding, and time spent outdoors with my father. Those early experiences taught me that the outdoors isn't just a place you visit — it's a place that has a way of changing you.
As the years passed, I dreamed of one day going out west to see the Rocky Mountains. Like many people, I kept telling myself there will always be next year.
At 53 years old, I finally decided it was time to take that first step toward the west. That first trip was an elk hunt, and it gave me an Altitude Adjustment, for sure. It was on that trip that Average Joe Outdoors came to life.
My hopes are simple: I hope to inspire ordinary people to stop postponing their adventures and take that first step.
