They say the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. What they don't tell you is that first step usually happens in your living room, staring at a map, wondering if you're crazy for even thinking about it.
That's where Average Joe Outdoors was born.
Not on a mountaintop. Not after some epic summit. In the quiet moments between "maybe someday" and "why not now" — that's where this whole thing started.
Most of us spend all year punching a time clock before we ever get to punch a tag. We grind through the weeks, the early mornings, the long shifts — all of it fueled by the thought of that one trip, that one season, that one moment in the field that makes it all worth it.
That's the average Joe. And there's nothing average about that kind of dedication.
This blog — The Journey — is for those people. It's where I'll share trip recaps, gear thoughts, lessons learned the hard way, and whatever's coming up next on the horizon.
No fluff. No pretending. Just the real thing.
The road less traveled is out there waiting. Take the first step.
See you in the great outdoors.
